Reserve

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 2, 2026 · Last updated: August 2, 2026

Operator: Backz (hello@backz.dev) · App: Reserve for iOS

Plain-language summary

Reserve does not collect your personal data. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no backend that receives your workout log. Everything you enter stays in a local database on your iPhone unless you export or share a file. This matches how Reserve is declared in App Store Connect App Privacy: Data Not Collected.

1. Scope and who this covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Reserve mobile application for iOS (“Reserve,” “the app”) published by Backz. It describes what information is processed in connection with the app, how that information is handled, and what choices you have.

Reserve is designed as a local-first product: training data is stored on your device for the sole purpose of providing the workout-logging features you use.

2. What data we collect (and do not)

We do not collect personal data from you. In Apple’s sense of App Privacy / “data collection,” Reserve does not transmit information about you or your use of the app to Backz, to our servers, or to third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Specifically, Reserve does not:

  • Create or require user accounts, emails, or passwords
  • Upload workout history, settings, or identifiers to a server
  • Use analytics SDKs, crash reporters that send logs off-device, advertising networks, or data brokers
  • Track you across apps or websites for advertising
  • Access Contacts, Photos, Camera, Microphone, Location, HealthKit, or Motion data

3. Information stored only on your device

When you use Reserve, the app stores information locally on your device so the product can work offline. That on-device information may include:

  • Training log: sessions, exercises, sets (weight, reps, RIR), warm-up flags, optional set notes, timestamps, and derived records such as personal records and estimated 1RM trends
  • Programs / templates: workout templates you create or choose, rotation order, and prescription targets
  • Preferences: units (kg/lb), rest-timer defaults, bar weight, RIR chip range, theme, language, haptics, and similar settings
  • In-progress workout draft: an active session saved locally so it can resume after the app is closed

This information is processed on your device to provide Reserve’s features (logging, rest timer, charts, backups you initiate). Backz cannot see, access, or recover it remotely.

4. Permissions and device features

Notifications. If you grant notification permission, Reserve may schedule a local notification on your device when a rest timer ends (for example while the screen is locked). These notifications are created and delivered by iOS on your device. Reserve does not use Apple Push Notification service or any remote push infrastructure, and no notification content is sent to us.

You can revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings → Reserve → Notifications. Doing so only affects rest-timer alerts; your training log is unchanged.

Files / share sheet. If you choose Backup, CSV export, PDF report, or import, iOS system pickers and the share sheet may open. Files leave your device only if you choose a destination (AirDrop, Files, Mail, etc.). We do not receive those files.

5. Imports from other apps

Reserve can import training history from CSV exports you provide (for example Strong or Hevy). Import runs entirely on your device. We do not receive the CSV file or the imported sessions. Imported data becomes part of your local log under the same rules as data you enter manually.

6. How information is used

On-device information is used only to:

  • Display and edit your workout log and progress
  • Run the rest timer and optional local notification
  • Generate exports, backups, or reports you request
  • Remember your preferences

We do not use your training data for advertising, profiling, or selling. Because we do not receive your data, we also do not use it to train models or for research.

7. Sharing with third parties

We do not share user data with third parties because we do not collect it. There are no analytics partners, ad networks, or cloud sync providers connected to Reserve’s training log.

If you share a backup, CSV, or PDF through the system share sheet, you choose the recipient. That transfer is outside Reserve’s control and subject to the privacy practices of the service or person you share with.

This website (https://www.backz.dev) is separate from the app. Visiting these support pages may involve ordinary web hosting and browser behavior; it does not give the website access to the workout data stored inside Reserve on your phone.

8. Retention

Local training data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. We do not retain a copy on our systems because no copy is sent to us.

Typical retention on your device:

  • Continues for as long as Reserve remains installed and you do not erase the log
  • Ends when you use Settings → Erase training data, restore a backup that replaces the log, or delete the app (which removes the app’s local storage)

9. Your choices and rights

Because data stays on your device, you control it directly:

  • Access / portability: Settings → Back up to file, Export CSV, or Training report (PDF)
  • Correction: edit or delete sets and sessions inside the app (including past sessions)
  • Deletion: Settings → Erase training data, or delete the app
  • Notifications consent: grant or revoke in iOS Settings

There is no account to delete. If you contact us about privacy, we can explain these controls; we cannot remotely erase or recover a local log we never received.

If you are in a region with privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, those rights still matter. In practice, for Reserve they are exercised on-device as above, because we hold no personal training dataset about you.

10. Children’s privacy

Reserve does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). The app is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided information to us through email support, contact us and we will delete that correspondence from our inbox where feasible.

11. Fitness information — not medical advice

Reserve stores workout-related information you enter (for example weights and estimated strength metrics). It is a personal training log, not a medical device and not medical advice. Estimated 1RM and similar figures are calculations for your own tracking; they are not diagnoses or treatment recommendations.

12. Security

On-device data is protected by the security of your iPhone (passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, iOS app sandboxing). We do not operate a Reserve cloud account where your log could be breached on our side. You are responsible for any copies you export or back up to other locations.

13. International availability

Reserve may be available for download in multiple countries through the App Store. Processing of your training log occurs on your device wherever you use the app. We do not transfer that log internationally because we do not receive it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app’s practices change (for example if a future version introduced optional cloud features). When we do, we will post the revised policy at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be described clearly in the updated policy. Continued use of the app after an update means you should review the new terms.

If Reserve ever began collecting data off-device, we would update this policy and App Store Connect App Privacy disclosures before that behavior shipped.
