Iconologia
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026 · Last updated: October 7, 2026
Operator: Backz (hello@backz.dev) · App: Iconologia for iOS
Plain-language summary
Iconologia does not collect your personal data. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no server that receives anything from the app. The list of works you save stays on your iPhone. This matches how Iconologia is declared in App Store Connect App Privacy: Data Not Collected.
1. Scope and who this covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Iconologia app for iOS (“Iconologia,” “the app”) published by Backz. It describes what information is processed in connection with the app, how that information is handled, and what choices you have.
Iconologia runs entirely on your device. Its artworks, texts and images are inside the app, it needs no network connection, and the only thing it remembers is which works you saved.
2. What data we collect (and do not)
We do not collect personal data from you. In Apple’s sense of App Privacy / “data collection,” Iconologia does not transmit information about you or your use of the app to Backz, to our servers, or to third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Specifically, Iconologia does not:
- Create or require user accounts, emails, or passwords
- Upload your saved works, reading activity, or identifiers to a server
- Use analytics SDKs, crash reporters that send logs off-device, advertising networks, or data brokers
- Track you across apps or websites for advertising
- Make network requests: every artwork, image and text ships inside the app
- Access Contacts, Photos, Camera, Microphone, Location, HealthKit, or Motion data
3. Information stored only on your device
Iconologia stores one thing locally on your device:
- Saved works: the list of artworks you bookmarked, in the order you saved them
It is used on your device to show your Saved tab. Backz cannot see, access, or recover it remotely.
The app’s language follows your iPhone’s language settings, which are managed by iOS, not by Iconologia.
4. Device features and links
Haptics. Iconologia uses the iPhone’s Taptic Engine for a light tap when you turn on Look Closer or save a work. This happens entirely on the device.
Museum links. Each work has a “View the museum record” link. Tapping it opens the museum’s website in your browser, outside the app. Your visit is then subject to that museum’s own privacy policy. Iconologia does not send anything to the museum.
Iconologia requests no iOS permissions: no notifications, location, camera, photos, or contacts.
5. How information is used
Your saved works are used only to list them in the Saved tab and to show the bookmark as filled on works you have saved.
We do not use them for advertising, profiling, or selling. Because we do not receive them, we also do not use them to train models or for research.
7. Retention
Your saved works remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app. We do not retain a copy because no copy is sent to us.
- Remove a single work by tapping its bookmark again, or by pressing and holding it in Saved and choosing Remove from Saved
- Deleting the app removes the whole list
8. Your choices and rights
Because the only data stays on your device, you control it directly: remove saved works in the app, or delete the app.
There is no account to delete. If you contact us about privacy, we can explain these controls; we cannot remotely erase or recover data we never received.
If you are in a region with privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, those rights still matter. In practice, for Iconologia they are exercised on-device as above, because we hold no personal dataset about you.
9. Children’s privacy
Iconologia is an educational app for a general audience. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided information to us through email support, contact us and we will delete that correspondence from our inbox where feasible.
10. Security
On-device data is protected by the security of your iPhone (passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, iOS app sandboxing). We do not operate an Iconologia cloud account where your data could be breached on our side.
11. International availability
Iconologia may be available for download in multiple countries through the App Store. It runs on your device wherever you use it. We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not receive it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the app’s practices change (for example if a future version downloaded new works from a server). When we do, we will post the revised policy at this URL with an updated effective date.
If Iconologia ever began collecting data off-device, we would update this policy and App Store Connect App Privacy disclosures before that behavior shipped.
